ReadON Danmaku — Socializing like a Gen-Z
At Connected2023, a Web3 social hackathon by CybberConnect and BNB Chain, we launched a feature in ReadON that caters to the social style of Gen-Z. We built the first decentralized Danmaku product for Web3.
Danmaku, also known as Bullet Chat, is a popular and interactive way for younger generations to engage with videos, express their emotions, and build communities.
With ReadON Danmaku, users can sign and send on-chain bullet chats in the app, as well as send gifts or cryptodirectly to their favorite creators. This feature has quickly gained traction, with over 10K users trying it out within the first week and more than 50,000 bullet chats sent on-chain.
Moreover, ReadON provides a web version where users can watch Youtube videos with on-chain bullet chats. Any developer can easily construct a dApp to display this information from public on-chain data.
Compared to traditional interactions such as follow, comment, and like, sending bullet chats encourages better engagement and builds a stronger sense of community. Users can bypass centralized platforms to express their feelings and give cryptocurrency gifts to their favorite creators. Decentralized bullet chats also provide a bridge between Web3 communities and traditional content creators. It provides creators with new sources of fans and income, and also gives them an excellent entry point to join the crypto community.
About CyberConnect
CyberConnect is a decentralized social graph protocol with identity sovereignty for mass adoption and network effects. It enables users to create profiles as the anchor of users’ decentralized identities. With CyberConnect, users own their social graph, content, monetization channels, and social data allowing them to travel across several dApps seamlessly without having to recreate their network on every new platform.
